I hold a firm belief in the African dream – a vision of a continent where every life is valued, education is transformative, and women and girls feel secure no matter where they live. In this utopian land, the government is accountable to the people; there is zero tolerance for corruption, and human rights are upheld. Each day, I rise to play my part in making this dream a reality during my lifetime.
I believe that Africa’s progress is in the hands of its people, whether at home or abroad. Together, we possess the power to bring about the changes we desire. We must rise, speak up, and take action to ensure that the sacrifices of our past heroes were not in vain.
I advocate for young people, particularly young women, who have a significant role in leading change and shifting perceptions. Decolonizing the mind is an excellent approach to kickstart a transformative learning process. As a result, I advocate for learning that goes beyond the bounds of the education system in Africa, especially in public tertiary institutions. Undergraduates should have access to an education that allows them to question existing paradigms and broaden their perspectives to drive positive change personally and professionally.
